looking for door trigger for power step

I am needing the piece that goes on the door of my 96 Discovery that makes contact with the piece mounted in the door jam when closed that tells the step to retract. Somehow on my last trip the piece on the door got broken off and I had to cut the 2 wires going to the door jam sensor and tie them togather to make it retract. The piece I need is about a half inch wide and a inch or so long and screws to the screen door. I assume it is some sort of magnet, not sure. If anyone has any info on where to get this part, please reply.

Thanks,
Craig

Go to radio shack and get a new magnetic switch designed for an alarm system. It will work

If the part with the wires mounted on the fixed portion of the door still works, all you need is a magnet...most any magnet.

I just removed my screen door, and made a small bracket with a magnet on the outside door that aligns with the door switch when the door is closed. I used a magnetic cabinet latch for the magnet.

Most any RV parts place will have magnetic door step switches. Yours is probably the Kwikee brand and there are a couple of styles. Order online from a place such as:
RV Step Repair Parts

Or call Fleetwood Parts or a Fleetwood dealer to order the specific part.

Thanks for the info, I have the piece off of a window ( a old home security system alarm ) that looks just like what i had. I am going to try it tomorrow and see if it works for me, don't know why it wouldn't...

Thanks again,
Craig
