Looking for information about backup (rear view camera) for 2006 SightSeer 27'

Hello,

We're new to the forum. We recently purchased a 2006 Sightseer 27' (Shortie). The coach is beautiful and in great condition.

We would like to install a rear view/backup camera. We would appreciate help and recommendations for a camera and getting it installed. The Winnebago website indicates that the 2006 Sightseer is already pre-wired for a camera.

We're about to go on our shakedown trip. We can hardly wait for the experience.

Please contact me at ricklillie@gmail.com. Your help will be appreciated.

Best wishes,

Rick

I would avoid the wireless systems and stick with the wires especially if you coach is already wired. Here's a site that has several to choose from at reasonable prices.

I have gotten several recommendations from other MH owners on the Rearview camera system at Cosco. Around $300.00.

Rick,

Welcome to the Winnie family.... Take a look at this website to download all of the build diagrams for your MoHo. Resources

I downloaded all of the diagrams for mine, burned them to a cd and keep them with all of the manuals in the event of trouble on the road. I feel if a tech has the drawings, I stand a much better chance of getting things repaired right the first time...

Rick....Have you given any thought to just trying it for awhile in hopes of finding maybe due to the size of your MH that you may be able to get along without a camera ? May be worth a try.

Thanks to everyone for your reply comments. We have taken two "shake down" trips and enjoyed both. Also, after a thorough search for a good service company, we found one in Cathedral City, CA. It takes me a while to trust a mechanic. The one we found, we trusted immediately.

Duane, thank you for the link to diagrams for motorhomes. I will try to find the ones for our Winnebago 2006 Sightseer 27'. We love the RV and wish we had done this years ago. I like your idea of downloading the files to a CD. We'll do this. At the same time, I'll upload the files to a hosted server that I use so that the files will be available via WiFi, if needed.

Becks, thank you for your advice. We are trying out the RV to see if we really need a backup view camera. So far, I haven't run over anyone and haven't backed into anybody or anything.

Majestic RV, we'll check your suggestion for Cosco. I think you meant "Costco." We are Costco members and really enjoy the store in Palm Desert, CA., which is close to where we live.

Someone told us that when we start to travel further that we'll plan our trips from Costco-to-Costco or Walmart-to-Walmart. So far, we've discovered that a big part of RVing is doing the research to plan the trip.

After living in a big city for many years, we discovered life in the desert region of southern California. Someone told us that you know that you live in a small community when the "height of social life is going to Costco on Saturday for nibbles." What an observation!

Thanks to all of you for your comments and suggestions.

I've posted this before.

I recently completed a new installation for under $100, comparable to systems I've seen for over $300.

I did a write-up for the Safari Yahoo group.

Hope this helps answer your question.
