Looking for Recommendations

Just sold my last MH and am researching what I should get. Not FT but looking to go FT in a couple of years even though I'm 70 now.

Would like to have DP about 36 feet with dual living space slideouts. Looking for a smooth ride, so may have to redo suspension from what I've seen. Have thought about an older DP from 05 to 09.

Appreciate your assistance and recommendations.

I know you'll get all kinds of recommendations but I'll give you one from my own experience.

We full-timed in a 2007 Itasca Meridian 34H (just under 35' with two slides) for a few years and loved it for the functionality and reliability. We experienced excellent factory support both from Winnebago and Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation.

This model comes in a 36G and also has two slides. Look for either a Winnebago Journey or an Itasca Meridian. They are essentially identical. In 2008, they changed styles and did away with the 36' model for several years.

Again, some might agree that this is a good model to consider, some will disagree and have other suggestions.

BTW, we are both retired transit bus drivers so are used to bad handling and ride in these breadbox-like vehicles. Yes, our Meridian did not ride or handle that well (as most shorter motorhomes have a problems with) but we were used to driving poor handling vehicles and we were more than satisfied with the way our Winnebago performed in all aspects. The party we sold it to, ended up making a lot of suspension modifications and he later told us that he was very pleased with the ride and handling afterwards.

The Itasca Meridians are nice and are available in shorter lengths. My sister had a nice 2004 34' model. I know their 36' models are popular and you should be able find something in the year range you're looking for.

Monaco was also a very popular and good quality coach in the year models you're looking at. If you intend to eventually go full time, I would push the length to 40'. Lots of storage on a 40', the length before they add a tag.
