It is all about watts, match the electric heater to the circuit breaker, at the worst you will pop the breaker. You are paying for the power, use it.
I check for propane leaks in the spring a simple matter of using a soapy water solution and looking for bubbles (I use diluted Dawn in a spray bottle).

An electric blanket is much more effective than hot water bottles. You can also add a "Stay Longer" connection and add 1 or 2 100# LP bottles. There are tons of YouTube videos on adding the connection and also another ton on tips and tricks for staying warm.
