Loosing Air in tire with extender.

Hi, newbie here. Lost a valve cap off an extender, then found I was loosing
air. Aired up the tire and the next day it was down again. Bought valve caps
and it stopped loosing air. Don't know if it is the valve stem or does the problem go deeper. Any help would be a great help

Sounds like the valve core is leaking. Take the extender off and check the valve stem core to see if it's leaking. If so check to see if the core is tight. If the core is not leaking the extender is the problem (common).

To check for stem leak - generously lick your finger and rub the saliva over the end of the stem (with cap removed) - if it bubbles you have a leak there.

It is also possible that the extension device that pushes in on the Schrader valve of the tire is tilted off and not allowing it to seal. The caps you are using may have a rubber gasket that is holding the air.

When I was using extenders on my previous MH I had two instances where pressure was being lost. The first time I had a small hole worn into the extender itself as a result of it rubing on the hub cap. The second time I found the extender has come loose from the valve stem. Tightening it solved the pressure loss problem.

We had an extender that was 'twisted' and then mounted with the twist in the counter-clockwise direction which over time and with bumps/vibration, caused it to come loose. Unmounting, tightening and then twisting it with a clockwise (tightening) direction solved the problem...prior it was a subtle leak that over a few days drained the tires. I would compel you to purchase a TPMS so you are always on top of any tire pressure/temp issues...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went out and bought some red valve cores and some
valve tighteners. I think it was a loose valve stem, seems to have stopped. Guess time
will tell
