Louisville KY to Ashville NC, best route?

This is part of my journey from wisconsin to myrtle beach.

For some reason the GPS keeps telling me to take interstate 150 along this route. Why not HWY 64?

Both same time to travel...

HWY 150 looks like a 2 lane interstate? No median? Not my favorite way to travel...

HWY 64 is a 4 lane, with plenty of places to pull over.

Is there something wrong with HWY 64?

You're right, 150 is one lane each direction. I'd stick with I64 to I75 to I40.

The reason GPS wants you to take 150 is that it is the "most direct" route. That is, 64 goes east to Lexington where you get on 75 to head south. That makes 150 the hypotenuse of the (rough) triangle which, as the crow flies, is usually the shorter/faster path.
What GPS doesn't take into consideration is all the Podunk little towns and traffic controls that slow you down.

Be very careful at the I75 to I40 (I640) interchange, it's a 25 mph ramp

You need to re-configure the routing settings in your GPS from "Shortest Route" to "Fastest Route" to avoid this type problem in the future.
