I think a DP is the way to go. It will give you all the power you will need. The ride is a lot better. And in mountain driving the Exh brake is a big + and a safety feature.
Where did you get the map to color in on your signature?

I love my C13 kitty. It did have some turbo lag burnt I have installed a harness that at fools the com putter to build up the boost quicker on accel. It starts right up and runs smooth going down the road and pulls the grapevine in CA with no problem. I weigh 40k lbs and tow a 5k lb ford edge. The only real downside I have seen so far is that the fuel mileage is lower than a Cummins although after the install of there harness I got 7.4 mpg on my way to Disneyland. I am curious to see what it gets on my trip to the beach in a few weeks.

I repoed a 05 Itaca Meridan yesterday. I can say it was nice inside but it had a little trouble on the hills on the way back to the shop. I think it had the 375hp cat in it.. it would down shift and needed close to full throttle to make it up the hills.

I felt the same way when I drove mine back from TX. I never felt that ISL lacked power but it is required downshifting and had to work to move up.

I suppose you gotta remember we are dealing with vehicles that are in the excess of 25000lbs. HP per pound will never be better than any small passenger cars on the road. Torque may have better figure but you are still moving a lot of weight.

my rv in my sig tips the scales over 41000# and was nothing like the Itasca. I do not know the power on my rig but it almost never downshifts even with the big trailer behind me that has tow cars in it.
