Main coach water filter cartridge

I replaced my main water filter replacement cartridge and cannot get enough volume or pressure in the system. I purchased the cartridge at Home Depot a while ago and don't remember the brand, although it was one of the more well-known brands. I checked the holes on the end and was surprised to see only a hole less than 1/8th inch at each end. Can anyone explain how this is supposed to work? I presume that I will need to enlarge those holes as a solution. (?)

Filters are rated by number of gallons filtered as well as gpm of flow. You must have gotten a lower gpm one. I wouldn't enlarge the holes as it won't give as much filtration.

Your best bet on water filters is the RV Water Filter Store http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com. There is a filter for everything and you will learn which filters will work best for you. Prices are competitive.

You will want to look for filters that are at least 5 micron in pore diameter and have a flow rate of 3-5 gallons/minute.

For given physical filter size, a finer mesh = better filtering, but at the cost of lower flow (gallons/minute). You apparently bought a replacement that filters better, but your flow rate dropped. If you want to get the flow back, choose a different filter (larger micron value). Something like 20 microns (the size of the pores in the filter material) will pass a lot more water than10 micron, for example.

Ditto on the suggestion for rvwaterfilter.com. You can get the exact filter product you need at a reasonable price, plus the site explains the tradeoffs.

RV Water Filter Store is where we always purchased our filters. Lots of selection depending what you want to do with the process and excellent help with questions if you give them a call.
