Maintenance

I have a 2006 Monaco Executive. What type of facility do I take it to for general maintenance? By general maintenance I mean, i would like a check of the fluids and belts, etc? It has a Cummins engine, roadmaster chassis. Roadmaster went out of business. Not sure if there is such a place for general maintenance. Not sure about the rv service places around here. Most are attached with rv sales sites. I have not heard good things about Camping World. There is a Cummins and Freightliner place near me.

The Freightliner place would be a good choice. If you have a Speedco in your area, they are a great place for Lube, oil and filters. I'm guessing you are new to this coach. You might find a mobile mechanic who would work for you. Here is a fairly complete listing of maintenance points on a diesel motorhome:

Complete base line service for Cummins diesel motorhome:

Engine: filters to be Fleetguard
1. Oil/filter
2. Fuel filters (2)
3. Coolant filter if equipped and test/ adjust SCA level if standard coolant. Change coolant @ 5 years. Add extender at 3 years if OAT type coolant.
4. Air filter if over 3 years old. Inspect plumbing between filter and turbo inlet for evidence of dust. Inspect CAC plumbing.
5. Inspect hoses & belts.

Transmission: filters to be Allison high capacity.
1. Change filters @ 36 months & top up.
2. Change fluid @ 48 months or test sample.
Always use TES295 fluid as approved by Allison.

Chassis:
1. Complete lube including lifting front axle from ends to unload king pins.
2. Including 3 zerks on steering column and one zerk on steering box.
3. Change Hydraulic filter & top up.
4. Change air dryer cartridge @ 2-3 years.
5. Grease front wheel bearings 3-5 years or change to oil hubs & inspect.
6. Change differential gear oil @ 3-5 years.
7. Inspect brake surfaces.
8. Inspect oil level tag axle hubs.
9. Inspect both chassis & house batteries. Make sure all connections are clean & tight. If flooded lead acid, check & top up with distilled water monthly.

Generator:
1. Oil/ filter
2. Fuel filter
3. Air filter
4. Perform valve lash, belt/ hose replacement and generator unit service before 2000 hours. Replace thermostat and coolant @ that time.

AquaHot:
1. Replace fuel filter
2. Replace burner nozzle
3. Exercise tempering valve.
4. Inspect coolant level at top of AquaHot unit and at expansion tank.

Inspect and clean all battery terminals.

Maintenance

Steve Ownby,
We just recently had the generator serviced and the oil changed. We had a fuel pump transfer leak, so when they repaired that, they changed the fuel filters. Of course, we had just changed those a few months back. Information is so scattered and the intervals different for stuff that I was hoping to just find a one stop shop- kinda like when you take your car in for the 20,000 mile service.

I would not go to a camping world for chassis, engine, brake service. Better off with a med/heavy truck dealer that sees these components daily and are doing DOT certification on trucks.
The Freightliner dealer can handle all driveline, suspension, air brakes and gen-set maintenance and repair. Most Freightliner dealers are Cummins engine parts & service dealers as well. In depth gen-set repair may require the Cummins dealer.
Steves above list covers it....

To keep track of what needs to be done when I made a table in Excel or Word. Years across the top. Maintenance items down the left. Put an X in the intersection of each item/year to be done. Makes it easy to see and track what needs to be done when.

A relationship with a local mobile mechanic can be a good thing. Speedco is good for oil changes and filters on engine and generator.

When I need maintenance done that I can not do, our MH goes to the local Cummins dealer. They are not cheap by any means, but I trust the shop that I use. As far as work on the house part, if it can wait, I schedule time for the Monaco shop in Coburg OR. For the transmission, I use an Allision dealer not far from us.
Lube, oil/filter and fuel filters I can do.

What service on the Allison do you need to do other than checking the fluid level and changing the filters that you say you can do? I also do my own filters and fluid for the entire rig, even the Allisons. I did have a leaking main seal that a local Allison shop fixed under warranty though way back around 2000 though.

You didn't say where you located. That might help with specific service centers Good & Bad

If you're near Oregon, check out Beaver Coach Sales and Service. They know your coach well and have awesome service. I know several people that plan their travels around going to BCS for service every year.
