MAPS.....
DW & I are not only getting our rig up to snuff maintenance wise & updating items to our liking but we're also getting technology items to where we can run our business on the road. We've done a lot of reading here about how some of you plan your routes and trips and the different ways you do that using apps, online maps, state sites that report real time construction etc., but many of you underlined the fact that these are just digital tools (that are limited in scope) and nothing beats an ol' time "printed atlas" especially to look for good alternate routes.
So our question is:
What IYO, what is the best printed Atlas to have on board with the kind of details an RV'r would need and find useful and when do they usually come out with the latest printed version? Also, like many of you, we're getting older and being able to see printed material clearly is getting to be a challenge, so we would like something BIG and easy to see and read and maybe even have some room to make notes, log phone numbers etc.

If you stay in the western states it would be worthwhile to get the Benchmark series of individual states. We had the whole set because we like to drive secondary roads. The detail is excellent - showing many public parks and sites. They aren't made for the eastern states.
We have not seen an atlas giving this much clarity in secondary and even gravel roads.

Nice maps! $22.95 for each state and worth it if you use the back roads.

I am very happy with my FMCA Road Atlas and Travel Guide. https://store.fmca.com/index.php?rou...product_id=170 Designed with the RV'er in mind. has campgrounds, Walmarts, Cracker Barrels, Flying J/Pilots indicated on the maps. Wire bound and easy to read. Updated every few years.

I use the "free" state and regional maps from AAA. Route navigation is done with a garmin GPS and that route is checked against the paper maps and if I have cell service then also Google maps and adjusted accordingly.
