Maryland Class B Written Test

Any Marylanders that have taken the test, please tell me what we specifically need to study in the 148-page handbook to get our learners.

Been doing practice test online but they are asking questions about tractors and catwalks and well, stuff that I've never heard of in RV talk!

Thanks!

Ah I found the answer in an updated CDL manual. So in case anyone else needs the information.

Chapters 1-4, and 5 (if you have an air brake) and chapters 11-13.

Study the air brake part in detail. Know your bleed down rates and pump up rates. When the spring brakes come on and at what psi etc. In pa this is what mattered the most. Also know your walk around.

Example, in pa, we walked around the vehicle during test. Standing at front drivers corner of rig inspector asked me what are you looking at. Go through all you items, inspection sticker, wiper condition, cracks in glass, rust around lug nuts, spring hangers, mounts, condition etc. Lights all working you get the idea. It isn't rocket science but a good knowledge of you components will do you well.

Make sure you study your air section again LOL.

And I thought Texas was the only one with dumb questions about stuff like pole trailers and the type of taillights on a tractor! We need to petition states for RV specific license tests instead of standard CDL questions.

I haven't read that section, still ingesting the insanity of general CDL knowledge.

Some of those questions are nuts. If they want you to have a special license for the RV's why not make the test specifically for RV's?

Do people get Class B licenses to drive big rigs and buses around for fun?
