We want to replace our full queen mattress in our coach. Any suggestion?

Have you considered a tempurpedic? You don't necessarily have to get the name brand. They come rolled up real tight so they are easy to get in the coach, undo it, and presto, new bed. That said, termpurpedics seem to be polarizing. You either love them or hate them.

We replace our queen size RV mattress with the Wall-Mart "tempurpedic style" queen mattress. we love it. They will ship it to your door. It's comes rolled up in a box. you open and let it sit for a today or to, then it ready to use.

We went to the local Mattress Firm store and bought a queen size innerspring mattress. It was not even the top of the line, just a good mattress. We enjoy sleeping on that (and actually feel better) then when we sleep on our very expensive adjustable Sleep Number King with the special pillow top that they put on it….. Man, I will never buy one of those again, or ever recommend them to anyone…

I really didn't care what everyone suggested, I just went to the mattress store and layed all over the place until I was happy.
Hate to get up in the mornings now, if the sun did'nt shine in the window, I would be writing this in bed.

Some foam and memory foam mattresses are hot and make you sweat.
I like the select comfort number air bed. What ever you choose, try it out first.

We bought a temperpedic brand for our home and afer having it for a while when we bought a motorhome bought one for it. The temperpedic brand is pretty expensive but you get what you pay for. If you buy one go to the store and like another poster said lay on each one until you find what you like. Temperpedic has a 90 day trial warranty so you can buy it and if you dont like it return it. They are pretty heavy. I would let them deliver it. My store had free delivery.

The only thing I would add is when we looked for a new mattress we went to several stores in a few days time and laid on all kinds of mattresses. Found what works best with my back and it just happened to be a firm pillow top. That is what works for us, it may not work for you. Do not hesitate to spend the money on what helps you get a good nights sleep. Do not forget that good sleep is the best thing for your health.

Oh and to really get a feel for them when you lay on them you need to lay in the position that you normally sleep in and lay there for at least 3 to 5 mins to really get a feel for how it feels.

Buy direct from the factory a Sleep Number and it will be the last one you ever buy. We bought one for the S&B and the RV 9 years ago and saved a ton buying direct.

When asking about a mattress you will get as many different opinions as when you ask Coke or Pepsi....Chevy or Ford. Everyone has a different support requirement. We have a sleep number bed and love it. However, you may not. Go to a good mattress store and take your time lying on different models. Just remember you spend almost 1/3 of your life in bed. Buy what feels best to you.

We've been using the Select Comfort Sleep Number beds in the S & B and also the RV's for many years. Could not be happier!

BTW, you can buy "refurbished" Sleep Number beds direct from the factory at huge savings. Most of these are simply beds that someone bought on trial and couldn't pay for them. You will always get new fabric, not what someone else has slept on!

Being that you have a 60"x80" queen size, you have a ton of options. To piggy back off another poster, I'd highly recommend buying a mattress that is compressed and rolled. It makes your life a lot easier when you're trying to bring it into the bedroom. It turns a 2-3 person job into a 1 person job.

If you tend to sleep on your side, I'd recommend something in a medium firm to a plush feel. If you sleep on your back or your stomach, I'd go with something with more of a firm feel. I'd stay away from soft mattresses as they tend to use lower density foams which can break down quickly causing the mattress to sag. You can always make a mattress softer by putting something on top of it (memory foam topper, etc).

If your bed has storage underneath (sit's on a platform with a lift spring), I'd make sure you don't purchase anything too heavy as the lift springs aren't designed to hold a lot of weight.

Being that RV's tend to get very hot, I'd look for a mattress designed to sleep cooler. There are mattresses out on the market now specifically designed for RV's which use temperature regulating fabrics (e.g. Cool-Max) as well as temperature neutral components (gel, natural latex, soy foam, open-cell memory foam, pocketed coils, etc).

If you go the air mattress route, make sure to adjust the pressure accordingly when traveling to and from higher elevations. Otherwise, the changes in air pressure can burst the air chambers leaving you with a hammock for a mattress.

Lastly, make sure to ask the sales person what your options are if after a 2-3 months on it and you decide you don't like it. You want to make sure they'll take it back or at least exchange it for you. Some places will do this and some don't.

Hi StevieD,

I see some are suggesting the tempurpedic style mattress. From personal experience I don't recommend that type. I found over the years, just a few, I could not find a comfortable position any longer. But this may just be me. Now, on the other hand, the Sleepnumbers style mattress is a good sleep system. We can adjust the firmness as we feel comfortable with and vary it from night to night if we wish. You might consider this in your search. Be aware that with the air type mattress you will need to change adjust it as you move from one location/altitude to another.
