Any company would probably end up in a "Stand Off". Best to get your coverage in the US for travel there

Mexican Insurance - brokers or companies
We understand that the liability insurance must be from a Mexican "company".
A internet search provides many with no recommendations.

Are you going to mainland Mexico or Baja CA? We travel by RV to Baja frequently and use www.discoverbaja.com. They can handle everything for you very reasonably. I need to contact them to see if they have the same service for mainland Mexico.

We're in Mexico near Puerto Vallarta right now in our coach. We bought our insurance through a link from the Facebook page "On the Road in Mexico" . Most of the sales agents sell insurance for the same 3 or 4 writers. The site I refer to gives you quotes for 6 options with 3 different companies.
Bill Bell, the fellow who runs the page, also offers a free road guide to various routes through Mexico with the purchase of a policy.
If you have any questions re: travel in Mexico feel free to send a PM or just ask here. We've been travelling down here for over 10 years

Bill and Diane,
We used Lewis & Lewis last year and were happy with their service. Thankfully we didn't have to use it!
Lewis and Lewis, Mexican Auto Insurance, Best Mexico Insurance Online, Mexican Insurance
They are located in Santa Monica, but you can do the whole process on-line and print out your policy in one easy step. They also have helpful customer services people to answer questions by phone as well.
Good luck!
John

Some years ago my parents went into Mexico with either a FMCA or Foretravel tour. Got Mexican insurance. A local truck coming the other way took their awning off. Naturally my parents were found at fault even though the oncoming truck was too far over in their lane. As I remember my parents paid for the trucks damage as well as the damage to their rig. So much for the "insurance" that's required.

I use the insurance provided through Vagabundos.com travel club. I personally have not had to use it but have friends who have. They have had good service plus if you do have a problem with the insurance company, contacting Vagabundos Club will help moving things along. One thing to consider on any Mexican Insurance is what is the repair labor and materials is based on, Mexico or US?. I purchase a level which guarantees US shop rates.

I just ran a quick quote and it appears cheaper to do an annual policy vs a daily one. Is that consistent with your experience?
Using a quick quote for the all MX area the annual cost was $475 and for 58 days it was $1100. That was the highest level of coverage (diamond) on $30,000 value for my 2013 Honda CRV.

If you're staying for more than around 30 days an annual policy is less expensive. You need separate policies for your car (if you tow) and coach. They need to be written by the same company to be in effect. You also need to get temporary importation permits for both the car and coach if you travel outside of Baja or the Hassle Free zone in Sonoita. Both of these things can be done at most ports of entry where you get your tourist visa.
