Trying to plan our future excursions and have decided a washer/dryer would be advantageous. Reading reviews have led me to believe I want separate units with the dryer being vented.

We only visit full hookup campgrounds (with maybe an overnight exception).

Trying to find reviews (and sellers) on units that meet these desires is difficult - they keep jumping to "combo units" (regardless of the search terms I use).

So I ask the community for advice; hopefully within $2000-$3000k, what brands/ makes should I look to?

I have stacked Ariston units. My dryer is a vented 240 volt unit which is great for shorter drying times but I have to be on 50 amp power or run the gen.

I have the Ariston dryer 120 volt & separate washer stackable. Great machines especially the dryer using a standard outlet.

Now the negative if you depend on others for basic repairs. My dryer stop working. I made a few calls & determined most appliance repairman did not want to work on it. This was a blessing.....because my anger made me research way more than I wanted about the dryer (which is great). First, it has a start capacitor to turn the drum made in Italy. Of course, no one could locate it. I had to go & ask the counter worker to find an equal capacitor (lots of convincing when they do not see the exact item). Next, the thermostat stop working causing it not to heat. Again, I had to find another option. I replaced with a resettable thermostat. I also ordered an extra belt on eBay just in case.

Basically, you're looking for the apartment size stackable units. Almost every brand makes a set. Splendide and Whirlpool are the two Newmar has been using.

You have to consider the outlet provided for dryer most residential are 240v.

OP, if only 2 people the combos are all you need. As Snowbirders for 14 years we never used a laundromat with just a combo. Our “new” rig has stacked and the DW would rather have the extra storage instead of a separate dryer.

We have stackable Spendie washer and dryer and are very happy with it. Yes it takes 30 min or so for the dryer but that is ok as we are just sitting around the campground when doing wash. WE cannot imagine being on the road with out them.

We have had 3 motor homes with Splendies and they were fine. This one has a Whirlpool stackable; Jean likes it much better. There are two of us and we spend about five months in the coach.

We were not looking for a washer/dryer in an RV when we purchased our current MH. However, they were in our MH, andwe have grown fond of them. They are very convenient. Slower and smaller than our home units, but the DW wouldn't have it any other way.

Splendies stack washer and dryer, worth every penny,camping world less than $2,000 installed. We had a combo unit took way to long an seemed like it added moisture inside the coach ,it was vented outside.

We have Whirlpool units. The dryer being 115
takes a bit longer but that’s ok. We had to replace the washer pump which was readily available and easy to install but we did have to move it out and lay it down to access bottom for replacement.

We have separate Whirlpool WD. When having a mobile tech work on inlet valves we talked about their experiences. They handle and recommend Splendide. Did not speak highly of Whirlpool as the havevdifficulty getting parts and any technical assistance. Lots of posts re: Whirlpool problems and error codes being thrown repeatedly.
I ordered my own parts online after doing my own troubleshooting.

We've had a Splendide unvented combo for the 10 years and are totally satisfied with it. When our old one's bearings finally wore out last year we had no hesitation about replacing it with the same.

Combos work perfectly fine as long as you pay attention to the instructions that plainly say that they can wash more clothes than they can effectively dry. We usually take a few things out to hang up anyway so that is never a problem for us.

There's a lot of misinformation about unvented combos that can be found on this and other forums, most of which is posted by people who have never owned one. They are very common in Europe and Asia just not in the US. Contrary to popular belief, they do not put humidity into the RV (nor do the vented combo units, contrary to a previous post). The water vapor from the wet clothes is condensed and directed down the drain.

Separate washer & dryer has the max wash & dry flexibility and capacity, of course, but it also trades quite a bit of space to get that and interior space is at a premium in any RV. That trade-off is very much a personal call

With a combo you do smaller loads more often and do other things while the long-but-automatic cycle runs. That worked fine for us.
