Might Move Up To A Class A

Looking at a 2008 Forest River Charlestown 410 with 45K miles. Was purchased new in 2007 by owner. Is there anything in particular to look for ?

Welcome to iRV2.

10 year old RV buying from original owner . Hope all goes well .
Things to look for .
1 Service records , you need to know what's been done for maintenance and when .
2 . Age of the tires ( every tire ) 4 digit code on sidewall , unfortunately not on both sides , code is week year of production 3708 , would mean tire was made the 37th week of 2008 . RV tires age out, ( rot ) long before they wear out , so looks good isn't good enough. Some manufacturers say 7 years then replace others 10 .

Click the " Files " drop box , left end of the blue bar across the page under the Google search box and download the " Buyer's Check List " print it out and take a copy with you while your looking at the RV.
Look through the coach for the " RV Weight Sticker " ( picture below ), that sticker will give you important info on CCC ( Cargo Carrying Capacity ) and tow weight rating , for a Class A you should get 3,000lbs + for a CCC and you need at least 5,000 lbs tow capacity . No standard location so you have to search cupboards and closets.

Thanks Skip426! Great information on how to determine date of manufacture of tires. Sure wish the date stamp was on both sides! Also the checklist sounds like just what I need! Thanks again. Happy RVing!
