Mileage question

Looking at possibly buying a 1993/4 Winnie Warrior. I see that it is on a chevy platform with a 454 with an automatic tranny and was wondering what kind of mileage I might expect. Finding specific mechanical details on these is not an easy task. Would appreciate any links to sources of such details as transmission, rear end, brakes (disk or drum) etc.

Google, "Brochure for <Year, Brand, and model>", then google the VIN number of the rig. Those two things will give you so many device names for the items on that RV that you will need to google and read for hours.

Mileage as in MPG

Hope for 10 mpg
Figure on 8 mpg
Don't be surprised if 5 mpg

The transmission should be a 4L80E GM unit. It's a 4 speed, overdrive, electronically controlled transmission. A heavy duty unit, but your will be 30 years old and unknown mileage. Look at and smell the fluid. A fluid and filter change may be in order.

Fuel mileage can vary, but won't be high. I would plan on 7 mpg. If driven at or under speed limits and not over 60mph, you could get 8-9 mpg on mostly flat. 454 is a lot of inches to feed and coach pushes a lot of air aside going down the road.

That will be built on a Chevy P32 series chassis. Depending on the GVWR, it MAY have the infamous J71 AAPB system, known to have caused a lot of owners a lot of grief. The good news is that SOME parts of the P32 chassis are still available from online sites such as : www.urvp.com and also www.millsupply.com Both of them are well known to P32 series owners.

As for mileage, anything you get above 6.5 to 7.0 MPG will mean you are going downhill.

You can view the owner manual and brochure on the Winnebago website.

I'll guess at the MPG - probably around 8. Maybe 10 if everything is perfect. It's relatively small & light as Class A coaches go, but fuel economy was pretty poor back then, regardless of size.

If you buy it learn everything you can about the Auto Park Brake and spare parts you may need.

Now that you’ve gotten ball park mpg, your next question will be, “How can I get the engine temp down? It’s running hot”.
