Monaco Dynasty 2008 shock replacement

Needing to replace my shocks, but getting conflicting information. Anyone done a replacement recently? If so, what did you go with?

Revrvparts gave me these part#s
Front 24-187-305. (RR8S chassic) Bilstein
Rear. B46-1724-M1 (unable to cross reference)

Shock warehouse parts#
Front same as Rev
Rear 24-187-312 (series S chassic) Bilstein

My brochure shows a Series S Roadmaster chassic, not sure which way to go.

Thanks

Are you wanting a basic shock or an upgrade that you will give you the best control?

Over the years of reading on this forum and on my own coach, I found the Koni FSD's worked best on the Monaco Roadmaster chassis. I feel for you though, as that chassis has, I believe 10 shocks.

I would call Koni for the exact shocks. The tag should be the same as the rears.

Your 42' Dynasty has an "S Series" chassis. It uses Bilstein part number 24-187312, 10 each, (4 on front axle, 4 on drive axle, and 2 on tag axle). Bilstein uses the same shock front and rear.

However, I agree with Don. The Koni shocks will give you a softer ride but the cost is double. A good compromise is to install six new Bilstein shocks on the rear drive and tag axles and then install four Koni shocks on the front axle.

Koni uses different shocks front and rear. 8805 1004 for front, and 8805 1005 for the rear. This is the FSD Gold Koni motorhome shock.
Best of luck!

I think that they added multiple shocks per wheel as there was not a shock on the market that could control the rebound and compression. Now that shocks have advanced so much there are options.

Thanks for all the replies, going with Bilstein front and back, according to Shockwarehouse and now Revrv the front is 24-187305, back is 24-187312. We’ll see………thanks again!

I have to agree vito.a. You'll be disappointed with the Bilsteins on the front. The Konis are great for stability, but they take away that short "chop" that make your windshield dance on rough roads. at least do the Koni's up front.

When I use the search function on Shock Warehouse I see some discrepancies.

The Dynasty 42', Executive, Navigator, and Signature have the same "S Series" chassis and should use the same shocks. However, the search function shows different part numbers for each model and some only show 8 required.
I think the accurate search is the Signature "S Series" chassis that shows 10 shocks required and has a choice of Bilstein or Koni.
https://www.shockwarehouse.com/index...8&mode=results

This "S Series" chassis has two outboard air bags per wheel and therefore two shocks per wheel (except for the tag which only requires 1 per wheel). It requires 10 total shocks.

Even back in 2008 when I put the Koni's on my 05 Diplomat, it was a tough pill to swallow buying 8 shocks. At least they were easy to replace, unlike the shocks on my Dutch Star Freightliner chassis. The rear duals have to be pulled.

I installed the Bilstein's on my 07 HR 40PDQ, night and day difference. got them form source engineering in Oregon, they adjust the shocks to your rig. They also have a front and rear stabilizer I'm thinking of putting on as well.

I think they use multiple shocks for the same reason they use multiple air bags - the axle is on a subframe that has 4 points of connection to the main frame - one at each corner of the subframe.

Yeah. The "H" frame. I was just under one doing measurements a few weeks ago. We are going to try and swap out 2 on each axle first. Now that we can custom tune the shocks we believe it will work. The rebound is the major issue as you now have 4 air bags to control. 2.5 HDS are a huge improvement on the others so we'll see what happens on the RR8R.

Got the RR8R shocks figured out and they work great. Much improved handling and still rides great. Now we are currently working on shocks for the Roadmaster S-Series Chassis 10 BAG/ 10 SHOCK. Should have shocks ready for testing soon.
