Montana LLC

Has anyone used a Montana LLC to buy and register a class A?
Any real benefit?

I'd suggest you type Montana LLC in the powered by Google search box above. There's tons of existing threads on this subject.

And you'll have hours of reading pleasure after the search...

The primary reason for a Montana LLC is sales tax avoidance. Depending on where you live now and how they structure state/local taxes and registration fees there may some some additional benefits or you may pay more for subsequent license renewals. Some states have very cheap renewals after extracting larger fees and taxes at initial registration. You may need to build a spread sheet to see if any state offers a greater or lesser advantage *based on your use of your RV.*

And that's the key - if you are going to sell your "stick and bricks" house to travel and live in your RV, chances are pretty good that a Montana LLC might benefit your situation. If you're just looking to avoid the sales/use taxes in your home state, keep your "domicile" outside Montana, and principally garage the RV in your domicile state, you might be violating the laws of your state and country of domicile.

These are situations where you need the advice of a lawyer in your current state, and an accountant. A Montana lawyer that specializes in LLCs (and there is more than one) will be happy to set you up even if you create conflicts in your current locale.

And remember: free advice from random people on the innertubes is worth every penny you paid for it.
