Motor home heat
Got caught in some real cold weather comming home from tenn. Last fall, it got really cold inside the motor home, it has a generator but am wondering how people heat their coaches going down the road. My dash heat is nonexistant under 40 degrees.

I have always just run the propane heater along with the dash heat while driving in cold weather. Never had a problem not keeping the entire coach warm

If it’s extremely cold or extremely hot, I use this curtain design to close off just the cab area. It also doubles as a quick privacy curtain on one night stopovers.
If this fails........fire up the genny!

Yeah, dash heat is pretty weak. An automotive-sized heater core & the heat source is 40' away. Let alone the fact that you're trying to warm an interior that's much larger than even a large car.
In anything but a slight chill, we run the diesel Aqua Hot.

Aquahot is a whole system, about 15k to do a retrofit. Mine has the engine loop so it gets heat from the engine coolant while on the road. Never driven under about 25 degrees that I know of. But living in the north I really don't pay much attention to cold temps when traveling. I do want it cozy when I stop for the night though.

I set the furnaces at 55. This keeps the back end and basement warm so pipes don't freeze.

The dash heat is warm but if it isn't enough we use the aqua hot and turn the thermostat to 70.

My dash ac works good but not enough for the whole coach the curtain sounds like a good idea..My wife has asthma so running a gen while driving dosent really work because fumes seem to get in the motor home, does anyone else have that problem or know of a way to prevent it.

A couple of things. I have a daughter with very sensitive asthma, so while I can sympathize with your wife's condition, you should NOT be getting any generator fumes entering the coach while driving.
My generator exhaust exits on the DS of the coach, and if I'm parked with the window open and the wind blowing just right I can smell the fumes. Of course there's an easy fix.
Secondly I think you will get more pertinent advice if you would post the details of your coach.

Its a 40 ft 2000 american eagle with an 8.3 cummins the generator is a 7.5 onan diesel. I have only started it once while driveng and my
wife reacted badly so I havent tried again, mine exhausts on the drivers side as well, I do use it with a genturi when parked and have no problem.

^^This!!^^
Difficult for me to even imagine how you can be getting genny exhaust to rise up in to your rig, when you have an expressway-speed breeze "passing" by. Would require a serious exhaust leak & breach in your cabin structure.
