Smile Motorhome Information needed

We are considering purchasing a 1993 Coachman Santara, anyone have any experience with this make and model? But would really love a 2006 Sportscoach Cross Country 351. Any input on this model would be much appreciated as well!!
Thank you,
Emilygrace

I have a 1995 Santara 36' Class A. I've only had it a short time and haven't really put it fully to use yet but so far I am pleased with it. I'm pretty sure they made a Class C Santara back then too but obviously that would be a different animal altogether. While I believe the Santara was Coachmen's top-of-the-line gas coach at that time, as old as they are now, anything you might purchase from that era is a bit of a gamble.

Spend plenty of time looking for evidence of rot and appliances that don't work. On the older stuff, there are so many things that can end up costing money and causing headaches, you really need to be thorough in your inspections. You WILL find problems, it is up to you if they are serious enought to be deal-killers.

Best of luck!

+1 on the Sportscoach Cross Country. They are NIIIICE! Obviously, a bit more money.

We had a 94 Class A Santara as our first coach. It was a DP with a gas generator and had air over hydraulic brakes We had a lot of fun with it, but it really was WEAK. You had to go as fast as possible down one hill to get up the other side. Never could get the chassis A/C to cool right.
Crossing Monteagle in Tennessee was a challenge going up and down.

We so appreciate your input. So nice of you to respond. Very helpful to us. Oh yes, the Sportscoach is the one we really want. Cannot afford that one until we sell our home. Which is iffy during this time of economic uncertaintly. Thank you for your help!!
