We use Progressive via USAA.

Miller is the best quote I've received on my new coach.

Using an agency such as Miller takes a lot of stress out of shopping for insurance. Agencies will have access to multiple carriers and can give you quotes from several carriers they deal with (i.e. Progressive, Allied, National General, Safeco, National Interstate, American Modern, etc. ...you'll have to check to see what carriers they are currently dealing with). They can also guide you in purchasing other insurance such as car, home, or liability umbrellas --and can assist you in combining such policies with the same carrier in getting discounts, etc.

They can also "hold your hand" if you need help in understanding some of the intricacies of RV insurance and/or insurance in general. They are not tied to a particular carrier so are not selling you on one policy as if you were shopping independently by calling each carrier yourself. An agent/agency/broker is getting paid by the carrier and not by you ...in other words, you are not paying commission or fees to them.

Miller in Lake Oswego Oregon (there are two "Miller Insurance" agencies in the Portland area so make sure you're dealing with Miller in Lake Oswego) is good and popular among RVers. We used them for years. We now use Destination Services in Missoula Montana which is an agency similar to Miller in that they specialize in RV insurance but are much smaller.

Destination Services -- Motorhome Insurance

Again, these agencies are independent and are licensed to sell in virtually all states. Again, they sell not only RV insurance (and are specialists in RV insurance) but also sell car, home, business, umbrella, etc. policies.

eta: I missed wendyjeff's post. Yes, FCIS is another highly-rated agency that specializes in RV insurance. Many Winnebago owners use them as they are based in Forest City Iowa.

We always make it's one that has our cars insured and none of this stuff for having to deal with two different sources. The last time we went insurance shopping and a mandatory thing, every so often, we ended up with Allstate.
We got every discount available and had to install the drivewise devices in our cars, as part of the deal. This has proved to be beneficial and will create even more savings for next year.

Same here. The discounts from bundling Home/Umbrella/Auto/Motorhome/Etc. & auto-pay make it easy. One Company/Agent. Done.

I wish it were that easy to assemble everything under one roof.

I am one of those shopping for a new insurer after RLI just pulled the rug out from under their RV policy holders.

I have everything with Allstate, but they can't come close to the rate, so far, that Progressive has quoted me. In fact, Allstate is quoting me $1,000 more per year here in Florida.

Of course, Miami has some of the highest insurance rates in the country due to all the fraud here and it unfortunately affects motorhome policies written in my zip code as well....even though the coach is kept in secure indoor storage in another county.

Oh well....you can't cry over spilled peanut butter.

I had AAA on everything but the MH, was using National General (GMAC) on the MH. I went thru a broker and switched everything to Hartford AARP and saved $1200 per year. It pays to shop.

WOW! Talk about Big Brother! You have to have a smart phone with their app installed, and it will report among other things, your up to the minute location and driving habits. You get penalized if you drive at night as well. Also, have you read the articles about Drivewise being hacked?

The insurance on our DP was cheaper with the Hartford thru AARP then Allstate was WITH the 30% discount, which may not end up being anywhere near 30% after your 1st year is up depending on the data the Drivewise sends to Allstate . . .through your smartphone with the app

Your discount (UP TO 30%, but could be as low as 10% with no reason given) doesn't even take affect until your 1st RENEWAL!

I also called Miller last month, the closest she was able to get to what we are paying now with the Hartford was still almost $200 more.

Oh, to the OP, it would help (unless I missed it) if you told us whether you were going to be full time, or just occasional use.

I joined AARP when I turned 55 last October thinking I could eventually take advantage of the discount with Hartford.

However, I got an email back after completing their online quote saying "we are unable to provide insurance coverage in your area"?

Anyone know if Florida, or a specific region of the state, is excluded from their present coverage area?

I intend to call them tomorrow for more particulars and will pass it along.

It will make a big difference if you are full-timing and do not have a s&b because your liability coverage will be different.

Use a broker with RV Insurance expertise. I used Gilbert in Florida and they have been great to deal with. If you work with a broker they should be able to explain things so that you get what is right for you. Others can offer advice but you need to get a fit for you.
