In Indiana, where you store your MH determines where it's taxed.

Same in Nevada, personal property tax only applies to real property.

Same for WA, but we do have a sales tax that varies according to the county, here it's 8.4% on most purchases, vehicles may be higher now. Haven't looked lately!

Drive up to Fairfax or Loudoun County VA and you'll find out what personal property tax really is...about $3000 a year...moving to South Dakota. Who needs anything Northern VA has to offer.

Clarification:
In WA if you trade in a vehicle you've already paid sales/use tax on you only owe sales/use on the difference between the old and new rig.

ok, there are several rv storage companies in Prince William county. MANY in va rent a place, and then change the address with DMV to PW county, va. WHY---no personal property tax on rvs and boats.

In Chesapeake, VA the PP rate is 4.08/hundred on cars/trucks/trailers/motorcycles. They do cut you a break on motorhomes, which are 1.58/hundred. Portsmouth, where my MH is stored is assessed at 1.50/hundred. Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Suffolk also cut people a break on motorhomes, all having a comparable rate with one another.

Yes, Montana is pretty good too. No sales tax, no other taxes that impinge on me, and permanent tags on older motorhomes.

I have permanent tags on my enclosed and utility trailers. Don't remember if I did on my 5er.

Goes by county and city here, our rate 55.46 cents per $1,000 of "book value" for county and 37 cents per thousand if in the city limits, so total of 92.46 cents per thousand (millage rate)so they get book value from some service, my 2004 Seabreeze runs about $400+/- this year, then tags are about $60 if I recall correctly, maybe more, but based on weight.

Could be worse from what I read.

But pay this on each car, the motorhome and boat, then house too...conclusion - taxes suck.
