Motorhome plus road length

When discussing the lengths accepted in State and National parks what is included? Just the MH or MH+road. How about a car trailer? Thanks

Listed length is for RV only, be it a trailer or motorhome.

State and Federal parks are only listing the max vehicle size for a certain site or the park as a whole. So if your combination is 65 ft. you will not fit in a 50 ft. site that your motorhome by itself would fit. Unless the park has a separate parking area for trailers, car dollies or boats.

Site size based upon the RV length minus the tow. Most sites have room for an additional vehicle.

I had read that National Parks are the total length of everything.

At the Ohio state park we just stayed at it gave the total pad length. Anything over that length needs to be on the pad or in a visitor parking lot. And they gave the pad size as 40' x 21' but the 21' part was a small stub with a picnic table on it, not the full 40' length. That was a surprise...

So I guess it's all over the place.

All they are attempting to do is convey the length of the site. If the site is 45 and you have a 40’ coach there’s usually a plan B to park elsewhere.

Sometimes it’s much longer than stated. Sometimes it hasn’t been maintained and brush has encroached and it’s shrunk. At times we back in and position the rear of the coach beyond the bumper marking the end of the measured space.

Some places don’t care if you park on the grass. Others forbid it.

The more you travel, the more variations you’ll see.

There is no one good answer, some are very close to the advertised length, some are longer, some state parks list actual length on each site, others round off to the nearest 4 or 5 feet.
