NC, registration is $28/year. Personal vehicle tax based on county or/& city that you are registered in. My 2004 Coachman Class A was $250 tax last month in Cabarrus County, not within city limits located one county north of Charlotte.
If you are coming to NC check out the county/city tax rate per $100 value. If buying a vehicle in NC there is a 3% sales tax with a max of (I think $900) but I could be wrong. Based on purchase price if bought from a dealer or blue book price if purchased from a individual. I do not know if there is a transfer fee for registering a out of state vehicle in NC.
Welcome to NC.

I have that plate on the TV, the heaviest motor vehicle I own. All of the other motor vehicles are compacts or sub compacts. I pay an extra $25 for an amateur radio plate for my "little car", a '97 Ford Escort.

Charges for plates in Florida are based on weight. No personal property tax, and if you are a 100 percent disabled veteran, your plate is $9 (not free, but the $9 is for "plate reflectorization") That DV plate also allows you to park free at any public metered space.
