Hello Friends.
I have a dilemma: I am 76, been RV'ing for 41 years. My passion. I have always preferred a motorhome. I am on my seventh. I had 5th wheels many years ago. My issue is this: My coach sat idle for 3 months. Just left on a 260 mile trip and I blew a heater hose. Long story... Due to the pandemic I can't travel across the border into the US. Is it more practical to have a 5th wheel and truck. The truck would be used frequently instead of my car and have regular service.
The motorhome sits idle and things can go wrong when you are on the road. What do you think?

First (LOL) ask Rita. I have had both and I prefer a fifth wheel but my boss wants the motorhome for convenience. Besides we are in our 80s it is great to just stop, put the jacks down and level and never have to get out except to sign in at the campsite.

I've done trailer and motorhome and the motorhome to me is so much easier and comfortable to drive. I still have a 2021 Denali Diesel and love the truck and a 38ft tow trailer but the set up and take down is much more work. Monday we got an emergency phone call from our son and 8:30am saying he was on the way (code for dropping the grandson off to watch) We had it on our schedule we had him Tues-Weds so needless to say we scrambled to leave the campground in a hurry in the motorhome. 10 minutes later we were pulling out, dumped, flushed, levelers up engine warmed up and slides in. Thats hard to beat!!

We have had Class A, Class C, travel trailer, 5th wheel and for long term living we prefer the 5er. Motorhome is better for short term and travel fairly often. The 5er is more residential and generally easier to heat nod cool due to not having the big heat loss windshield.

Big advantage of the 5er and truck is that if you have chassis problems, the truck goes to the shop and you get the 5er towed to an RV park for a place to live. With the motorhome, your house goes to the shop as well.

As for comfort pulling a 5er, having the proper truck that is large enough to tow the trailer. Do not skimp on the truck. Do not listen to the RV or truck sales person, do your own home work and learn about tow ratings.
