MPG

Now that we are both retired we were wondering what MPG people actually got on their rigs. I know it depends on driving conditions etc. But we would like to know on these types of rigs;

30 Gasser

FRED diesel

32' - 34' diesel pusher

Thanks

We average about 8 MPG driving 60 MPH in our 40' DP with Cummins ISC350.

MPG

My 34ft DP with Cummins 5.9 pulling Jeep toad gets right around 10 mpg most of the time around 60 mph except in mountains.
I do have a Banks tuner and turbo on it and better flowing intake and 4” exhaust which also helps.

Driving Tiffin Phaeton 40IH @39000lb GVWR, towing Honda CRV with Cummins 380hp. Usually drive 63mph. Over 3 years of ownership, have averaged 8 mpg. Best on flat ground about 10; worst, about 5 in mountains.

First trip in a 35' DP towing a Ford Ranger we averaged about 8 MPG. Trip was a circle from Victoria BC to San Diego over to Arizona and then back to Victoria so quite a bit of mountain travel.

Seven previous similar trips in a 30' Gas towing the same vehicle we were averaging a bit under 7MPG

36' gas towing 4 down yields 6.3 mpg over the past 5 years full time travel. I keep detailed records. Be cautious what others say if they don't track miles and gallons used.

You did not specify a size on the FRED but I have a 25.5' FRED and over the last 30 fillups in the mountainous West 65 MPH avg speed not towing my average MPG is 14.7. Winnebago Via (Class A) on Sprinter chassis. Some would argue it is not a true class A and that may be true but it is what it is.

Figure on 8 mpg

RVs are large boxes that have to push their way thru the air

Ours averages about 8 mpg pulling the boat. Depending on terrain and wind direction, up to 10 at times without boat. This with highway speeds of around 60 mph and very little stop and go. Mpg drops quickly if I go faster or get into stop/go traffic.

Class A at about 14,000 lbs, 28 feet in length, Workhorse 8.1 and 4 speed.
Bass boat is smallish at 17 feet.

I track my mileage and get 7.4 out of my 50,000 pound class A with the big 605 Diesel while pulling a car at 65. A little better when I take it easy. A little less when I run 70 plus.

Mostly highways.

34' gas, non towing, 6.9 MPG

Sounds like I need to buy a 40' diesel and tow a vehicle if I want better MPG.
