Mudflap fuel discount app
I just ran across info about a fuel savings app called Mudflap. I know nothing about it and was wondering if anyone is familiar with it. It is not a fuel card, but I think what you do is find a participating station with the app and show the cashier a code from the app to get up to a 50 cent per gal discount. Again, I know nothing about the app, who knows, it could be a scam.

Looks like it may just be for the smaller independent stations. But again, I don't really know, just researching it.

Signed up (easy) but I go into small stations and did not find where it saved any money. Didn't compare it to the TSD card which hasn't saved me any money as I can use a a 5% back credit card... GasBuddy is my go to for the best prices.

So, are there quite a few stations, or very few?

I have been very impressed with the TSD card. Their updated app is much improved and while some outlets offer larger discounts than others, we recently found that we saved over $30 per fill up with our TSD card coming from the midwest back to California. Between 40 and 50 cents per gallon. Once you learn the system it is seamless.

I only looked in the SE (country divided into 6 sections) and there were not that many.
If you are a truck stop only person, the TSD card is better than getting had, but the only time I couldn’t beat their price by 10+ cents was when fuel prices dropped quickly (last March-April). Most of the time I use Sam’s (usually the lowest or within a couple cents) and easy enough to get in/out. Hard to beat their $1.50 dog and drink for lunch.

If the EFS card from TSD hasn't saved you any money you are not using it at their participating truck stops.

I think the TSD card has been discussed extensively on here. There is no doubt it is a good deal. I would like to suggest we keep this discussion about the mudflap app. Including it in this discussion will just add confusion.

I changed the location to where I usually get fuel when going out West...first picture is Mudflap...best prices (off my route by 10+ miles) is $1.80. The Sam’s (which I’ve used) are $1.59. Both let be use my 5% back credit card...another 8-9 cents off...$1.50 x 120 gallons for a savings of $36 over Mflap. The TSD card has fewer stations and the best price is $1.85 plus their fees and no credit card... no 9 cents additional off so $44 more than Sam’s. Flying J price is $2.24 (if no discount) so a $88 savings using Sam’s. As usual, GasBuddy finds the best prices and there is no confusion in those savings to me.
W5CI ^^^^, maybe the above examples will give you some idea why I rarely find it advantageous to use the TSD card and it looks like Mudflap falls in the same category. By not using truck stops for the last 12+ years I’ve saved close to $10,000 by not bending over.
