Mysterious battery deaths

Hi everyone:
I have a mystery on my hands involving the house batteries in my 1989 Fleetwood Southwind. I installed two new DC27 batteries in the last month. I replaced the inside light bulbs with LED 1156. The only thing I changed.
I was in the motorhome with the generator running.
For some reason I pushed the house battery on-off button above the entrance door to off. Don't ask why because I don't have an intelligent answer. I guess I just wondered what would happen.
Lo and behold the generator stopped running. I turned the battery switches back on but there was no response when I tried to restart the generator. There was no interior 12 volt power. No lights, no fan, even no indicator lights to measure battery power , LPG , water level, entrance step. Nothing!
I wasn't in a position to plug in so I left it for a few days. I returned and was able to plug it into 110V power. Everything worked fine with the shore power connected, but the generator still not had no response. I left it plugged in overnight but when I unplugged the shore power there was nothing. I tried to boost them with my Noco GB150 emergency power booster but to no avail. I measured the voltage with my multi-meter and both house batteries were virtually dead with 0.12 volts.
The starting battery was fine. I then borrowed a reliable battery tester from my store and the batteries would not even light up the window on the tester.
Does anybody have any idea what may have caused this crazy failure??
Thanks,
Barry

I just returned a NAPA Marine/RV battery that was only 2 weeks old. It worked fine then went dead. I charged it over night and it only had 10V and by the time I got to NAPA, it only had 8V. Looks like a faulty new battery!

You did turn the switch back on? Perhaps it didn't actually make contact but something ran your batteries completely down which would indicate you did in fact turn the switch back on. Parasitic loads will certainly drain batteries and you must leave them switched off when not connected to shore power.

I turned the switch back on. When I got no interior power and couldn't start the generator I turned it off again. ( I think).
I guess I'll have to pull the batteries and see what is going on.
Thanks for your help.

It seems strange that both batteries would be defective but if I left the switch turned on maybe they were drained down too far to be brought back to life. I'll have to pull the batteries and see what I can find out.
Thanks
