NAPA filters; Overpriced!

Some common filters for us Cummins owners are fuel, oil and air filters. I've always thought of NAPA as an alternative to Fleetguard for these filters. No more.
A FS 2009 filter at NAPA (Napa branded) is $57.99 about twice as much as Fleetguard. About the same for the secondary fuel filter and the air filter.
Cummins store is about the cheapest I've found for the fuel and oil filters. The air filter I've found at Fleetpride (not Fleetguard, Fleetpride is a trucking store) for about $140, $80 less than NAPA or Cummins.

I can't speak to the quality of NAPA filters, I've always thought of them being good filters. But Cummins recommends Fleetguard filters so why pay more for NAPA.

The NAPA gold filters are quite good. in fact they are WIX brand filters.

Because you can't buy a NAPA gold filter anywhere else they think they can charge so much.

I have a fleet account at Oriellys. They have wix filters. Quite reasonable.

There are only a couple filter manufacturers shared by most filter brands and only the labels are different.

The only filters to touch my Cummins since I've owned it are Baldwin and I get them from Amazon even though there is a Baldwin dealer the next city over.

Yes
Same with batteries

We have a small battery manufacturing
Company between Russell Springs and Nancy Kentucky.

You can't believe how many brand labels
They have to stick on depending on whom they get an order from .

Motor oil.
I was at a Harley dealer when they were receiving a delivery of gold priced H.D. oil.
In the truck was every brand bottle boxed known
But
Not penzoil nor Wolfs head the driver explained.
He was going to a Wallmart then a Kmart next.
Then Auto Zone etc.
I ask him
Where ( All ) do you pick those up ?
How many suppliers?
He said One bottler with a warehouse full of plastic bottles.
I ask how many brands of oil tanks ?
He laughed, one supply tank for each weight blend of oil.

He laughed again and said he had $1.75 quart oil and $7.00 quart oil per Wt. on here from the same tank in Easter kentucky.
Je said he looks at specs and pricing to buy his motor oil. Highedt specs guaranteed for the lowest $$$s

That was some 20 years ago.

I know Farmers face the same issues buying seed from seed companies also. Many times

Some NAPA filters are made by Wix, but to NAPA's specs. The marketing department would like you to believe they are the same thing. They are not. Buy Wix brand, they are one of the best out there.

Yep, I told my HDT repair shop to install a new air filter when having other work performed; they did. My fault for not asking the price first, the NAPA gold air filter was $250.

Just search for Wix part# filters online, if you buy 6, they usually come out to half price of part stores.

I've been buying the cheapest oil, filters, etc (with the same specs as the expensive) I can find for the last 55 years. Never a problem. Saved thousands by now.
Biggest waste is synthetic oils over dino.
