The area listed in that alert was near where we encountered construction signs on the Trace last week. It was also some of the roughest pavement (wavy), that we encountered, (the other notable problem pavement was on the section going around Jackson).

After driving the Trace in sections over the last couple of weeks for the first time in many years, the thing that struck me most was its condition, along the entire length it seems the pavement is in at best fair condition, many of the pull outs are missing their historic signs, and in general there is a visible lack of maintenance. Along the southern section there are numerous downed trees that fell last year, which have yet to be removed, only the seconds actually blocking the pavement have been cut out and left by the side of the road. There also seems to be a much lower level of ranger enforcement, more people speeding, the old "strictly enforced" signs are gone from below the speed limit signs. I even saw some questionably commercial vehicles on the Trace and obvious non-recreational towing going on, ie vans with business lettering on the doors, flat trailers hauling new appliances, etc.
