Was the going dead problem the reason you installed a new battery ?

Was the new battery fully charged when installed ?
It would take 6 to 8 hours of highway driving for the alternator to charge a dead chassis battery, if it would come back at all.
Have you had the battery tested ?
New, doesn't necessarily, mean good.

Check the battery terminals, especially if they're the side-mounted type that are replaceable.

I had a weird problem with my chassis battery that turned out to be a rusted terminal connection. It would sometimes work, and sometimes act completely dead. It turned out that the battery terminal connection was good enough to pass low current, but not the high starting current. Replacing the terminal ($2) fixed everything.

How long does it take for the battery to drain down? NRV have several battery drains on the chassis battery when the ignition is off. I would suggest you install a positive disconnect on the battery, cured my drainage problems.

Battery

Thanks everyone on the information for my battery going dead , it had a bad cell but if I disconnect the battery when I park it , the steps will stay out I guess that won't hurt anything

It took 3 new battery's before I got one without a bad cell, I had to have each one load tested before I was given an exchange.
