National Parks By the NUMBERS.
Simple link - https://www.nps.gov/aboutus/visitation-numbers.htm
Not sure what the rules are on posting copies of the link so I'll ask.
Take a look at the link then tell us what you think.
When you look at the Numbers were you surprised?
This info is also Surprising - https://www.nps.gov/aboutus/visitation-numbers.htm
My biggest surprise was that - https://www.nps.gov/cuva/index.htm - not only was on the list - BUT - Increased Visitations.
Just found this interesting and even a little Surprising.
Thought others Might also share their thoughts.
Just trying to Stir up some interest on the site in the Winter.

The number that surprised me was an overall 90 million less visits in 2020 compared to 2019. I assumed RVing might have increased visitations and that fewer people were vacationing outside the US.

All the Hotels Motels were closed, both in and around the parks for the most parts - The national Parks are not even Remotely close to Just RV Parks - As we visited last year and they did not even open till June - Cutting the season substantially.
The more you look the more you think the more you see.
Interesting Numbers!

I also found that interesting and surprising! I'm from there and went there a lot as a kid (when it was Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area) and was surprised when they made it a National Park. It's really nice, and the bike path and hiking are fantastic, but not "unique" in terms of natural features in the way that many NPs are. I wonder if they did it to be better able to handle the number of visitors...

Good point Busskipper. With the US/Can border closing to non essential travel, we had to cancel our reservations in US parks in 2020.

The numbers are down because many parks were closed or opened later in the season due to Covid. Many parks opened but did not open their campgrounds. I volunteer in NPs in the summer and in 2020 I was supposed to be a campground host in Shenandoah NP for May and June but they did not open till July. I was supposed to be a camp host at Teddy Rossevelt NP for July, Aug, Sept but they did not open the camp ground at all.

We spend July outside of Acadia NP and visit every day. It was much lass crowded last year than in years past and made for a more pleasant experience.
