We had a Workhorse chassis MH a few years ago. We had a problem with the wheels/tires feeling like they were out of balance. After we went through over a year we found out that the steel wheels were not round. I had bought and tried the Centramatic balancers, but they didn't work. Of course not... you can't balance out of round wheels. Eventually alloy wheels took care of the problem. We still have the Centramatics in the garage.

Don't know it you had a spin balance or not, but would that have shown up if you did?

We had them balanced with the Equal beads, spin balanced, bought and installed the Centramatics and finally had the tires trued that just about did away with the tread before we found out that the wheels were the problem.

TPMS

I installed the PressurePlus 8000 system on our 5th wheel and the front two tires on our truck. It was $257 through Amazon.com (Pacific Dualies was the actual company). It came with 6 sensors, wiring, relay and the monitor. It can do up to 36 tires in 33 different configurations. It also monitors tire temps. I think that it saved me two tires on our latest trip: I've lost five tires in the last 1 1/2 years, which is why I decided to get a monitoring system. I have ordered 4 more sensors so that I can monitor all 10 tires - dually truck and the 4 on the trailer. It does require metal stems which I had on the trailer and had to have installed on the truck. I have steel extensions on the dualies and do not think that the sensors will effect the tire balances. The monitor and relay works with batteries or can be direct wired which is what I decided to do. So far I'm really happy with the system and the customer support from Pacific Dualies.

I was loosing a trailer tire about ever 3-4 trips + 2 Michelin's on my truck. I got rid of the 15" "ST" rated tires and changed to Yokohama Geolandar 215/85-R16 "AT" rated tires. With those tires and new rims, I had a tire rated margin of 1460# with a total of 9260# on the trailer axles.

I had a TPMS on 4 trailer and two truck tires. On one trip, my EGT gauge sender messed up and I had to turn off the power to it and the TPMS. I was almost home and one of the trailer tires blew. Don't know if I would have caught it if the TPMS was on.

All of my friends also got rid of the "ST" tires and went with the Geolandars with good luck. ST tires are only rated for 65 MPH. My advise is to get rid of the ST rated tires if you still have them. I tried about 4 other brands with "E" ratings and they all blew or separated. A well known tire dealer tried to tell me that ST rated tires dissipate heat better. Yeah, they why did the ATs work for me and my friends?
