It's the plug for Ford's temporary fuel tank. I've never seen one but I've been told that they put small gas tanks there when the chassis was built to enable it to be easily moved (driven) until whichever coach manufacturer took delivery of it and equipped it with the regular fuel tank of their choosing.
Mine also has this plug dangling with the dirt from years of not being plugged in on it.

Welcome to iRV2 .

There is another post in the Ford chassis forums where a member asks which one of three transmissions his chassis has .
Best guess is that connector ; being as how it appears from the dirt , never to have been used ; is for equipment ( possibly a transmission option ) your coach doesn't have.

EDIT: I see that GypsyR posted while I was typing ; boy I type slow .

I don't know if it's a fuel connection, but I learned several years ago that they use a small insert, like a coffee can in the fuel tank (when the coach is in chassis form) to drive them around until the body is added. So, the plug would make sense.
