I was thinking the same thing Mike. I believe (if i'm not mistaken) the case was glued shut. I would be surprised it they encase in the insides in some type of epoxy> Dam, yo got my curiosity up. I got to find that bugger!

See post #7 in the following IRV2.com thread:

There is a link to a PDF that explains how to use the slide controller to
manipulate the slides.
Same document on my web site + more.

It’s basically a box with a switch for each motor so you can adjust in and out of each motor independently while measuring rails to make sure slide is straight. And a set button for your in and out limits.

Have you opened one up and looked inside Rooster?

My thoughts are that it must be more than a box of switches. There are
only four connections between the slide controller and the teach pendant:
Code:
Pin Function 1 Move Slide In 2 +12V 3 Move Slide Out 4 ?
From the manual operation instructions, we can see that running all slide
motors at once is accomplished by applying +12V from pin 2 on the
controller to pin 1 (out) or pin 3 (in).

There also appears to be functionality on the teach pendant to activate
individual motors. In the manual procedure, you need to disconnect
motors from the controller to isolate a single motor to run. How is this
accomplished with only the 4 connections identified above? Same goes for
setting/resetting stops.

An additional connector is provided with the pendant to bypass room locks,
if the controller supports them. Looks like that connector connects either
pins 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 on the controller.

Now the controller must have some smarts inside to count pulses from the
motor encoders (for synchronization) and retain the stop settings.
Probably a simple microcontroller with a small eeprom. Guessing that, I
would suppose a serial communication link on pin 4 of the teach pendant
to manipulate the in/out reset buttons (save stop positions), motor
enable/disable and teach/run position. RS232 may be used as it is a
+12/-12V protocol. What I don't see is a ground connection from the
controller into the teach pendant for any logic chips contained in the
pendant.

If the teach pendant is just a bunch of switches, I would be awfully
unhappy to have spent $400+ on the thing...

I knew immediately that their was smarts inside the second I saw the four conductor cable. I'm also sure the case is glued so that one can open it
Im not sure if the internals are encased in some type of epoxy blob. I'm leary of opening my teach pendant.

No problem. I understand not wanting to cause undue harm to it.
Thanks!

You have in and out and off position on four switches and a set button the best I can remember it’s been several years since I’ve used one. Why would you think it would be complicated than that. You can do the same thing by just unplugging motors you don’t want to run and move slide in and out.

I made a harness that runs all 4 motors. It’s great for timing. You just plug and unplug motors you want timed. Has clamps to put on battery’s. Anyone is welcome to use.

I just joined this site and I am looking for the pendant to reprogram my slide out was wondering if you knew where I could get one. The mother board went and and I replaced it now the slide will go in and out while I push the override but that's it. I would appreciate any help you could offer

Thanks

If you had the same controller that I had you can do it with the button and the board. In and out.
