Need replacement cable for air-actuated driveshaft parking brake (1996 Beaver)

Need to locate a replacement cable for the driveshaft parking brake (1996 Beaver on Magnum 4-bag chassis), CAT 3126, Allison MD3060, Eaton diff, parking brake ???.

The parking brake has become much less solid, crawled under it and found the cable actually kinked on release (missed lubing that!) which likely caused it to not full release and wear.

I found several suppliers who custom make these, does anyone know the OEM? Or who actually makes the parking brake - I can't find a matching image from Meritor, maybe Eaton or Delco?

Thanks!

Possible custom cable suppliers:

The inner cable is plastic coated and looks like it's in decent condition, it shouldn't need to be lubed. You probably need to clean and lube the brake and actuating linkage.

Any chance you can make a rod to replace the cable? If not any of those you found will probably be able to make what you need.

Thanks for reply.

Inner cable is binding up, and considering the hassle to remove it I'll replace it.

Direct linkage (good idea) except actuator is mounted on the frame up and above the brake, clearance looks like it would preclude mounting the actuato on a new bracket by the brake.

Is the actuator a typical truck "spring brake chamber"?
Can you post a photo of it?

Is it spring applied and air released (like the wheel mounted parking brakes used on most airbrake RVs)?

You could try asking about this cable over at the Beaver Owner's forum

You can't ask questions or search the BAC forum unless you pay to join both FMCA and BAC.

You can't access the BAC library (no access to documents) if you are not a member - but you can still use the forum. AFAIK

I let my membership expire, and I still post there almost daily (unless they just haven't caught up with me yet).

Never been a member, but I though it would be a good resource when I got my Beaver. I was going to sign up until I found it would cost over $100 for FMCA and BAC.

I've tried to search and post and always get a message to sign up.

They haven't caught up with you yet.
Just checked, my account has been deleted. Too bad, I posted a collection of Beaver resources and would continue to add, but $100/year for the forum is a no-go.

You can search with Google - just prepend "site:beaveramb.org"
