New battery install

I was replacing 2 batteries in parallel and noticed a third red positive cable with terminal nuts behind the batteries. Is this for a third battery or should that be attached to something else?

Post a picture of battery area.

Do you have room for another battery?

The tray only holds 2 batteries. I am a 2015 Entegra Aspire on a Freightliner chassis with a Cummins 400HP ISL9.

I'm confused and need some clarification...
I see 2 red/pos terminal connectors andv2 black/neg
The neg appears to have 2 cables w 1 attached to each connector + the jumper.
Where do these go? Possibly one chassis. & one engine ground point?

The pos appears to have one cable attached and one jumper + a jumper
Is the question what is the clean post supposed to be connected to?
Is there another red/pos cable hidden?

I can imagine one pos to a batty switch and a second cable that bypasses the sw. This arrangement is not uncommon as frequently the ECM (eng computer) is always powered to retain settings.

The other possibility is one main pos cable to starter and second (fused?) To the emergency start / parallel sw solenoid/ batty combiner

The cable on the left including the rubber cap; Looks identical to the factory frightliner or maybe holiday rambler chassis start parallel battery cables. I have two of those cables assembly one for Plus and Neg. I have always liked the desigh of the parallel jumper and those rubber caps to cover the connections.
