You should have power to one side of the switch all of the time.

That's why they fuses we're added. The switchs would fail and burn up the vehicle, sometimes in the garage.

If you disconnect the wire connector from the broken base that is hanging loose and it has 2 wire terminals at the electrical connector, jumper the two terminals and the cruise will probably resume operation. If it has more than two terminals, I don't know which ones to jumper.

The purpose of the jumper is to test the broken switch and should not be used as a permanent solution.
