New G4 Cobb LED disks/bulbs

Moderator, please do not move as the G4 bulb is mainly used in Class As.

I recently installed these new style LED COBB bulbs...Ebay, cheap, China which is where I buy all of my LEDs. Over the last 10 years I've tried various style LED bulbs and recommend buying 15X G4 with 12 SMD, 5050 size chips in warm white to replace your halogens...$10.08 delivered (68 cents each) and last link.

The 8 7W Cobb disks are $11.44 ($1.43 each and first link) and arrived fairly quickly from China. I'm impressed with the amount of light they put out...more than the halogens I replaced and more than the 12/5050 LED bulbs I normally recommend. You can see 30 small round chips in them which concerns me as the only LEDs I've not been happy with are those with smaller chips than the 5050 size. Time will tell how well they last and they look better in the pucks that you can see in the ceiling. I would not buy the 12W as they are to large to fit in the pucks.

Picture does not show much other than they are bright:

I did buy some other 7W Cobb bulbs and do not like them as well as the above:

Question New G4 Cobb LED disks/bulbs

Ivylog...in your picture had you replaced all 3 pucks or is the new bulb only in the middle light? I assume that the lights are on maximum brightness...how do they appear when dimmed?

I have tried multiple LEDs from e-Bay & others but DW always complains that either:
a) the color is too blue-ish or
b) they are not bright enough if she doesn't complain about the color.

Would you please show/send a photo of them in a dimmed state?

Thanks in advance...billgr0248

A timely post

Last week I picked up my new to me 2007 Dynasty Queen, this week I'm working on replacing all the lamps with leds. I mistakenly ordered non dimming lamps for the small recessed can lights ( I didn't know they were dimmable), how fancy! I'm hoping you have similar fixtures and can clue me in on the easiest way to remove the glass lens/shield.

The pulsing power from the multiplex system will dim the non disable LEDs. Take a knife blade and pry down the first metal ring outside of the glass. Helps to have a flashlight to get the 2 G4 pins back into the socket. I shorten the pins (leaving 1/4th inch) so they fit better in the puck.

Bill, the middle light is a little brighter than the other two...will move it to the right where I normally sit on the sofa. Normally you cannot see the lights as the camera angle is close to the floor.

Maybe this is a better picture of them dimmed.
