New MCD Shade Remote Info

Recently my old 14 channel MCD shade remote lost range that unfortunately was not due to weak batteries. I've seen some discussions on the different remotes and want to pass along this information.

The RED shade remote controlled motors (typically MCD 50.174) and the 14 channel remote are obsolete. The remote has a slimline replacement a 15-channel MCD 50.213 listing for $180. I got one from Tiffin for $120 but their online store listed it wrong and calling Express Parts only got me the old remote information. MCD gave me the replacement part number and thankfully, the remote from Tiffin (#35584) IS the MCD 50.213. Since the motors are already programmed with the limits, all I had to do is to pair each motor with a channel on the new remote.

Talking to a MCD dealer, there are two digital remotes - one for the new white motors and one for the old and obsolete red motors. Unfortunately if you can't get a red motor, it will be a white motor and remote totaling around $400.

I did purchase a spare motor from Newmar for $107, about $60 less than any other price.

Does Newmar have the red motor in stock? I need one but could use two...

Newmar shows three in stock and will obsolete after they are gone. Newmar number is 023046. In the search bar just put in MCD and only a few things will populate.

Then click catalog shop

While they did immediately send a email confirmation, they never sent a tracking number. While in My UPS app it showed it on the way. Ordered late 11/30 & received it 12/3. The $107 included shipping.

Thanks for the info! It went exactly as you stated. Just ordered two and it confirmed the order so we'll see.
