New tires. But…

I’m not interested in what tire brand you like. Sorry but too many threads get busted up by claims of the “best tire”. How about how much you paid for 6 new tires mounted and balanced and the brand?

I think this might be a better comparison. If you post the brand, area of installation and cost it might give the rest of us an idea of what to expect.

Having said that I’m looking for information on pricing so I can except or decline local prices.

Thanks in advance, Jim.

Without knowing the size of tires, I am not sure how much it will help, but I will play anyway. I bought a new set of 6 Sumitomo ST719 LR-F Speed rated N 225/70 19.5 tires in Feb of 2021, out the door total price having them mounted and installed at a local commercial tire dealer was just under $2,000 after tax. On a side note I am very happy with them, and they are a big improvement over the previous Hercules brand tires that the PO had put on the coach before I bought it in 2016.

A poorly worded question gets bad answers. Not only has this topic ben beaten to death you are not in an area where there is much competition. Many of the Brands that US owners buy are not available in Canada, You did not ask people to state the size and date when purchased. Tires have been going up in price every 4 or 5 months. You could just call 3 or 4 large dealers in your area and get the prices. You could also check prices on the Family Motor Coach website.

In today's tire market, price is not a good indicator of MH tire quality.

I replaced the 19.5 Michelins on our rig about 7 years ago. Loved the Michelins, they rode great and went 13 plus years. I didn't know about tire aging at that time. I found out quickly that I'd have to pay a premium to get new Michelins so shopped for another brand to see what I could find. Ended up getting Bridgestones and although they do give a bit stiffer ride, haven't regretted the decision.

I'm sure prices have gone up since but I'd imagine that the double and more cost difference still applies. Back then, almost $400 each for the Michelins, less than $200 for the Bridgestones. Don't have the receipt in front of me but I'm thinking the out the door cost, mounting, balance, taxes, fees,, was around $1600 for the six.

Mine were a larger diameter/size than yours, but I think everyone agrees that Michelins aren’t cheap.

I don't often list the price I pay because first, I buy 4X then two years later 2X so can't give the price of 6X tires because I stagger my purchases of tires. I start surfing the internet looking for the best price plus reputation shortly before I think I need new tires.

I also choose where I will have them installed...I drive around asking shops if they have a problem with me drop shipping a set of tires directly to them and then they install them. Sometimes that's not acceptable to some shops, so I have to have them shipped to whatever RV park I'm staying at, and then carry them with me. Most shops charge around $65/tire M&B. I can save $100/tire by shopping online rather then at a tire shop. Love's Tire Stores will install your tires.

Giving a current price isn't always helpful because the manufacturers are often competing for market share so there are bargains to be had perhaps a month from now. I recall a few years ago, 2019, I had spent nearly a year waiting for the tire market to change as the prices were all higher then average for some reason but eventually, they dropped and I bought a set of 4ea 255/70R22.5 tires. Cost back then, with free shipping, M&B, was $1200 for 4 tires installed. BUT, I also had rear shocks installed. That is no help for you when you decide you need tires, too long ago.

Which means it isn't always easy to quote a price because it's involved, not always current, and complicated. Plus some iRV2 readers may simply not remember.

My advice is use this Tire Size Calculator to get a range of tire sizes that would fit your RV, then enter those different sizes (won't be more then 3 or so) into google one at a time and check out the offers online. Most will show free shipping. Those that don't, you can expect to pay $80-$100/tire shipping. Doing this will give you a pretty strong idea of what you can expect to pay where you are.

I also went with Bridgestone as even if I had wanted Michelin was not available anywhere 2 years ago.

I use Pomp’s tire service. Having been in and around the trucking industry a friend of mine used them for semi truck tires for years.

When the Michelins aged out Pomp’s recommended Bridgestone. They used a tire comparison calculator and came up with a tire that was .1 inch more in circumference and .1 inch more in width and one load range higher.

Just went through receipts and June 2021 I paid $2680 for six 275 80/r 22.5. Including mount, balance bags on all tires and disposal.

I agree they may have a slightly rougher ride but I only travel to and from Minnesota to Mazatlán Mx each year. 4800 miles round trip, 14 days a year on the road. So I don’t care. I just slow down a little and relax.

I ruined a tire running over a rock in the road in October 2022 and replaced it in Cody Wyoming. Michelin 275/80r-22.5, mounted but not balanced, $925.40. It was the 16 ply XZE. I felt fortunate that they had one tire in stock.

We paid roughly $375 each for our Toyo 22.5' tires early 2022, a quick search shows they are still around the same price, maybe a few dollars more. When we purchased our current class A a couple of years ago, tires looked good with little wear and no sidewall cracking, in fact they were 10 years old and aged out. Private seller dropped price $5K and away we went driving our new to us rig back home to NM from blistering hot July TX heat. We did not hesitate to purchase the same Toyo M154 tires, after a decade of use they looked and drove well, our new set is delivering a very smooth and quiet ride as well.

We replaced six 275/70r/22.5 with Sumitomo ST719s in March, 2023. Balanced, taxed and old tires disposed cost just under $3000. Wal-Mart had the best price on the tires @ $408 each including tax and shipping; local truck service center did the mount & balance at about $60 each. These were load range J, speed rated M, built in Japan 34th & 35th weeks of 2022.
