We are at the looking phase for new flooring for the RV. Planning on the vinyl planks. We have looked at the Nucor with the cork glued to the back of the planking. Have not looked at any others yet. This will be a early spring project. Any comments or input, vinyl to stay away from etc. would be appreciated.

We tore out the "dirty old carpet" in our living room and bedroom this summer. Use a dust mask!!!

Sand any projections in sub-floor and fill depressions. Clean,Clean,Clean

Layed "Winchester Extra Vinyl Plank Flooring." Creekside, medium wood grain embossed finish.

The joints on this plank are light plastic and extra care must be taken to prevent breakage. Also, make sure the joints are clear of all foreign matter as they will not click/lock properly and will break when you tap them down. I had to purchase another carton due to joint breakage problems

Vinyl T-mould and Laminate MPR transition to kitchen ceramic tile were purchased from Home Depot

We did not remove carpet under slides as not much access. That is where we used the T-mould

I worked at it one-two hours a day for about a month.

All things considered, it turned out OK. Easier to keep clean. Wife loves it

These products are in Canada, but should be available stateside

Thanks for giving us your info. We currently have vinyl sheeting which has stretched in places. Don't think we are going to do it ourselves but not sure. Still getting a feel for that.

We are full timers so having someone do it in a 1-2 days is enticing. Jury still out on all this.

Are the planks easy to trim?

We are ordering Lifeproof ("fresh oak") from Home Depot for our coach's floors and will do a floating installation. There are how-to videos on Home Depot's web site.

Hello Sue,

I have installed Pergo plank flooring in two different motorhomes. It is intended to be a floating floor but because of the continual shifting of the motorhome I decided to staple the perimeter.

The first motorhome I did I owned for another 6 years after I installed the floor and had no problems with the floor. Still looked new and was easy to clean. The easy to clean part is important to us as almost all our camping is boondocking and tracking in dirt and mud is unavoidable.

The second installation is 1 year old now and no problems with it either. See the attached photo of the installation process.

I live in Colorado. When in storage the interior temperatures have ranged from a few degrees below zero to about 120 degrees above. These temperature extremes have not caused any problems.

Caution, if you have slides that will slide in over the floor you must be sure that the new flooring is not thicker than your current flooring or the slide will drag on your new floor. Now that would be a drag! :(
