Last fall we bought our 04 Newmar DP, like you, as much for the way the meticulous owner took care of it as for the coach itself. That is something you can never get from a dealer.

Sounds like a gem, as others have said you will experience minor problems along the way as things age but look at how much you can fix with the depreciation money you saved. Now having owned one like you described, if you have a rear window and a mirror on the windshield there is a 12" square magnifier you can stick on the back glass and it is amazing how much better you can see behind the motorhome. Good luck safe travels.

I too am OCD when it comes to maintaining my toys. I have a 1976 BMW R90/6 motorcycle that demands near constant attention, but she's a joy to ride. My next patient is the Onan Gen set that doesn't want to run more than 20 minutes or so. Starts popping like a .22, then struggles to run. I love a challenge!

RV sat in the driveway through hurricane Irma....LOTS of rain and 40 mph winds. Now is a good time to inspect for leaks! I get inside, and kitchen floor wet with dripping from overhead vent. Not bad, really. I remove the part I can from the inside, and see that it's coming in from outside the frame of the vent. I go up top and cover the vent with a small tarp. I inspect underneath entire ceiling panel, and all is dry. All other areas dry as well. Will reseal vent this weekend.

Just go have fun. We bondock in the desert at 14 days at time then go in dump our black tank. We have a lot of fun and save money. We do a lot of wally world camping. Oh! Save some gray water to chase that nasty black water out when you dump.
