On the transmission where the shift linkage is connected to the transmission will be the reverse switch... it functions in one of two ways... first its a mechanical switch inside the transmission so when the linkage moves a button is pressed on the switch and contact is made....
If the switch has only one wire connected to the switch than it grounds that wire in reverse and someplace on the vehicle a relay trips and turns on the backup lights and the camera...
If that switch has two wires than it makes contact across those terminals... usually one terminal is 12V+ from the battery, though the fuse panel, through the engine start switch, to the back up light switch and than to both the rear lights and I assume a trigger wire in the rear view camera at the back of the coach.
Often these wires are in a place where nothing but dirt my be the problem... or someone might have power washed under the vehicle and washed the connections loose.... or the switch is bad...
First identify how it works... and than test what's not working... I'm guessing, dirt, and loose wires first, bad switch second and finally a problem inside the transmission not pushing the switch...
