You may need to go through all the fuses in the coach, I have 2 fuses and a circuit breaker involved in powering my steps.
What brand did you install ? Did they come with a wiring diagram?

Kwikee 32 Series. Found 3 fuse, all good. Test of steps connected to a battery work Ok
Before you spend too much more time on a power check, you need a wiring diagram. To see if the override switch is a power shut-off or a signal interupt, to cut the signal from the door switch and stop step operation that way.
Was the over ride working with the old steps ?
Can you get ( download ) wiring diagrams for both sets and compare them ?

I have a wiring diagram and the harness connector is below the fridge compartment. However there is no harness connector in the compartment.
Old steps did stay out when parked. I believe the switch is power cutoff. I do not know if switched worked with old steps.
