We were told by Fleetwood that one else cannot change a spare themselves and no longer provide them for consumer safely reasons.
In our travels we see more Truck repair and tire facilities than we could believe.
With the commercial Truck fleet as huge as America's is it feel fine without a spare.

I like to carry a unmounted spare. ERS will change it for me. By having my own tire I will not experience delays in finding a tire, or be charged an exhorbinent price for a tire, or have to buy a brand a really don't want. IMHO.

Looking at getting a good used spare to have just in case. Has anyone put a spare(tire only, no wheel) up under the frame of their GP?

Mine's on the roof like Ivylog's. Forklift up, gravity down, if it becomes necessary.

My Journey has space in the frame between the water tank and back Axel. I have been trying to figure out a way to put my spare there. My concern is that if it came off while driving it could damage the motor. Currently I put it on the luggage rack of my toad. It is a bear wrestling it up there. I don't like the mount behind the rear radiator because of the air flow impact and heat from the engine.

I should clarify that the tire would not actually fit "in the frame" but could be held up against frame. The issue is how to properly/safely hold it there. There are limited points for attachment with the wiring and other lines that run through or parallel to the frame. I think this would be the ideal place because the weight would be be evenly distributed from side to side and would not take up any storage bay space. I currently wrap my spare with stretch wrap. This keeps water and dirt from collecting in the tire and is cleaner handling. This helps when putting the tire on the toad luggage rack or inside the toad. You can get the stretch wrap at any place that sells packing supplies.

I have just purchased the Roadmaster spare tire carrier for our trip to Alaska this summer.
So far I have not found a tire cover. May ask where you purchased yours, I have a
295/75R22.5 spare. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sure hope it's in a white cover or you are baking the life out of the tire. I have seen examples of tires stored outside in the sun fail while still in the mounting rack.

Tires seem to be available everywhere, wheels not so much; at least for the steel 6.75-19.5" 10 bolt. It took me five months to find one at a reasonable price ($190), as Ford wants $630 + shipping. No, they are not the same as used on the Ford 350,450. The tire and wheel weigh just over 70 lbs so there is no way I can change it, but at least when the roadside service company calls and ask if I have a serviceable spare, I can say yes, come on out.

Dennis, I couldn't find one either, but with a lot of searching I found this company:

and gave them a call. I can't remember the name of the gal I spoke to, but I gave here the ACTUAL PHYSICAL measurements of our tire 295/75/R22.5. (same size as yours) and they MADE one, plain, with no logo, in my choice of color for $47.00 including shipping. I purchased on August 10, 2015. If you call them, they may be able to find my order using my name and date and make one just like that one. It fits great, and I got in about a week. Couldn't be happier!
