Noisy Air Dump, Freightliner
Sounds like a piccolo pete on the 4th of July when I dump the air tank(s). (2014 Phaeton on Freightliner Chassis) Campers run for the hills and Homeland Security shows up to investigate. Thought it was the front valve located under one of the two tanks but turns out is is coming from near the rear axle. Can't pinpoint exactly where. Anyone have similar experience here? ... not running for the hills though.

You could locate the valve and add a "muffler" of some type to it. For me, it only sounds for a couple of seconds, so no big deal.

Rear air dump/leveling valve if leveling, otherwise if when you pull the parking brake button, it is the air exhaust vent on the air/spring brake canisters.

I had the same issue, sounded like a loud whistle that went on forever. I installed Henderson's Line-Up motion control units on each air bag line, 4 in my case, to help with the rocking motion going in and out of driveways. It did help that issue, but as a side bonus which I did not know, when I dump the air, it has quieted down the noise more than half. Hope this helps.

Thanks all. Good stuff. My situation is similar to that described by Doorguy. Long whistle. I hadn't considered the air bag control. Assumed it was all in the dump valve. I also get some of the rock and roll around park lots. May be able to kill two birds with one stone. Thanks for recommendation.

Should just be the sound of air escaping from the system, sounds like you have something stuck in the exhaust of the dump valve? Take some "brake clean" and spray up the exhaust port of the dump valve to clean it out!
On my old Monaco, they put the dump valves, air governor, and the fuel filter in the rear engine access area, all on the right side! Very easy to service them!
Rail!
If you click on the pic you can enlarge it, look to the top left of the fuel filter, you will see the two dump valves, and to the left of them is the air governor!

Very nice. Thanks. Yep, pretty sure it's the dump valve. The sound is like that of a partially-opened valve. Maybe dirt, as you suggested, or a restriction in the mechanism. Not as easy to see on my rear-radiator coach. It appears to be tucked up by the rear axle. Your pic will help me identify it when I, ugh, climb under. (yep, will block the chassis while I'm under there).
