It got wet, it’s the full moon, it’s that time of the month, 4% chance it detected high heat and did it’s job...shut it down before catching on fire. If you do not smell Ammonia or there is no yellow powder at the base of the flue try resetting with a magnet above the red light area to reset the Band-Aid POS box that gives false alarms...even the 5th (revE) version of it.

Yup, then buy an ARP unit so you can stop worrying about your frig.

Red light means Recall Box has tripped ALL DC to fridge ....hence fridge will NOT turn on

Why did it trip:
Could be any of the reasons posted above for sure

Inspect around burner area for any greenish/yellowish residue/staining
That means cooling unit has leaked......sodium chromate is the residue
That means Recall Box sensed High-high temp excursion and shut down doing it's job

Recall Box (circuit board) got wet....blowing rain or recent wash job
Need to dry out circuit board (fan/hair dryer on air etc)
Reset using strong magnet...hold on face of box near top and move back/forth slowly....CLICK/RED Light out--Reset

Recall Box circuit board faulted........Rev 'E' latest board
If No Leaks/didn't get wet/won't reset---need box replaced.
Have to contact a Norcold Authorized Repair and have them check it out then order/replace it (Norcold will NOT send parts to consumer)

Recall Box RED Light
ON Steady----tripped
Fast Flashing----sensor not connected
Slow Flashing....low supply DC Voltage

Reset Box

This is actually a valid possibility that it did its job. Running one that far out of level is a reason why you damage your cooling unit to where it may not work well in the future. Agree a ARP control system is a better choice than Noecold’s black box.

Actually the ARP installation instructions direct the installer to wire the Norcold box in-line with the ARP unit. This way if either trips it disconnects all power from the frig.

In my opinion, that is done for legal liability reasons rather than functional ones. Norcold gets testy if you remove thei recall box, which they provided in response to NHTSA safety recall. The ARP is a much better solution, but why put yourself in a position where Norcold could claim you circumvented their safety device? Just leave it in place and add the ARP, which will handle any potential overheat situations long before the Norcold recall module ever notices it.
