Norcold icemaker leaking into freezer bin
What to do...our ice maker is leaking into our freezer - had about 1/2 " of ice in freezer. Ice making is making ice. Do we need to replace the ice maker? or could it be a leaky water line? It's a Norcold fridge in a 2012 Thor Astoria coach.
Thanks!

Remove ice maker and set water volume lower. It's a set screw on the side, only a small adjustment is needed.

Same thing happened to us on our 2017 Seneca last weekend. I think it is probably just the solenoid valve going bad and not closing completely. Simple repair if that is the problem. Hopefully you can access it thru your outside vent

Was the RV exposed to freezing outside temps? If so, the problem cold be a damaged Ice Maker Solenoid, as t was on mine. Easy fix, and good info attached.

I turned my refrigerator off yesterday and went out this AM and found about 1" of water in my ice bin. No question that I have a bad solenoid valve.

Norcold icemaker leaking into freezer bin
I also have same issue with my icemaker and am not convinced it is bad solenoid valve. Also, I know it has never frozen.
Haven’t bothered to take apart but have actually watched it fill. You can see where some of the water runs out of icemaker to freezer.
Annoying, yes and at some point I will get around to removing unit so I can adjust water (bad design having to remove unit to get at adjustments). I think that is all that will be required.
Good luck with yours.

After you take it out and remove the cover you can locale the adjusting screw and drill a hole in the cover to access it when its back in the freezer.
On my 05 I wound up replacing the ice maker but don't buy the one from Norcold because its just a generic ice maker that fits many different applications and you can buy it for about 1/3 there price.

The solenoid fix is easy. I recommend trying that first. You don't have to open and defrost the freezer to do the solenoid. If that's not the problem, you've lost little. Then you can open the freezer and remove the ice maker. The ice maker adjustment screw, in my case, was a waste of time. Water overflowing the icemaker is a symptom of the ice maker solenoid innards being out of place. Your call, of course.

I had the problem of water leaking into the bin of my norcold. First thing I did was replace the solenoid. That didn't help. I pulled the icemaker and found that the coating in the mould was peeling off and water would leak right through. I got a new icemaker at Lowes for $100. I also drilled a small hole in the side of the cover so I could adjust the size of the ice without removing the icemaker.

On my boat, I had to replace the ice mold in the ice maker because of the coating lifting off. Didn’t cause it to leak but always got wee bits of coating in the cubes.
Found coating peeling is caused by using anti freeze to winterize.
I avoid that like the plague, when I have to winterize ice maker, disconnect both water lines from solenoid, energize solenoid and blow it out, blow line to freezer out and run pink through supply line only. I don’t reconnect until flushed.

Depending on when the water is getting in the bin it can be from driving before the water is frozen. My wife likes to make a couple big glasses of ice water before we leave. The ice maker seems to think the bin is low after that, so it dumps the ice it's made and starts to make more. If we drive before it's frozen.........

This Ice maker service bulletin pdf explains how to test the ice maker for proper functioning.
Keep in mind you cannot set the water level proper, what you set is the timer that controls how long the water solenoid is open to the ice tray. This means water pressure has a role in the size of ice "cubes"(and overfilling) too.
Sometimes using a hair dryer to thaw the ice maker does help the situation, but temporarily only.

If you are in a place where u can turn your frige and icemaker off but leave the incoming water valve open and your water pump on or city connection on, the only way water can enter the icemaker is thru a faulty solenoid as there is no power to the icemaker triggering the solenoid to open or close
