Norcold with compressor cooling unit

Anyone have a Norcold 1200 with the compressor cooling unit from JC Refrigeration? I had this mod done last May and it has been working well. Last Wednesday I turn the refrigerator on to cool it down for our trip to Florida next week. The outside temps have been in the twenties at night and upper thirties during the day. The refrigerator section is down to the low thirties but the freezer will no go below the upper twenties. Does the cold outside air temps affect the ability of the unit to cool down the freezer section? Anyone else have problems with this setup?
Thanks for any advice.
Bill

Yes if it's easy to cool the fridge and keep it that way the freezer will run high. Thermal control is fridge side. Same issue with a many of fridges in garage in the winter temps. People have made mod to run the small bulb in rv fridge to cycle the compressor more.

Bill, I would call Jr. at JC Refrigeration. He's a great guy to work with and really stands behind his products!

Thank both of you for responding. I sent JR. message. If I don’t hear from him, I’ll try to call on Monday.

I really feel like the cold outside temps are the culprit. I only have a little heat inside the coach right now. I did turn it up a bit this afternoon and the freezer temp dropped a few degrees.

153stars, you hit the nail on the head. I got a reply from JR this morning. He told me the same thing you said. He said if I intended to use the fridge in cold weather, he would send a kit to keep the interior light on to force the compressor to run more. Or I could open the refer door for 2 or 3 minutes several times a day to keep the compressor running. As soon as I get a couple hundred miles down the road, this shouldn’t be an issue any more. Thanks for responding to my question. I learn something every day.
